In the 2002 Bull Test at Wardens Farm, 4 Point 8 had a feed efficiency of 4.82 and a ratio of 123. But here is what counts:

His sire, Ironwood ND 701 9399 was 1st in the 2000 test, and his sire, Ironwood New Design 022 701 was 1st in the 1998 test.

4 Point 8's dam, 8248, is sired by Ironwood Cristo 5204 6370 and he was first for feed efficiency in the 1997 test. What is even more impressive is that the maternal great grand sire of 4 Point 8 had a feed efficiency ratio of 110.

4 Point 8 is absolutely stacked from a breeding perspective for feed efficiency! The beautiful part of 4 Point 8 is that all of this highly heritable feed efficiency comes with exceptional performance from all the other angles as well. The first calf crop out of 4 Point 8 has proved him to be a consistent calving-ease sire. Overall, 4 Point 8 has sired 33 calves in 4 herds, with a birthweight ratio of just 100 and a weaning weight ratio of 104. At Production Angus Associates, 15 calves out of 1st-calf heifers have averaged 74 pounds, all born without assistance. In addition, 16 calves from mature cows averaged 80 pound birthweights.

At Wardens Farm, 4 Point 8 calves born to heifers have ranged from 77 to 85 pounds. As you can see below, these calves are impressive from the start!
